"Complaining—bitching, moaning, kvetching, griping, and carrying on—is a terrific and constructive thing to do. You’ve just got to learn how to do it right." Barbara Sher Wishcraft
When stress builds to a crescendo, sometimes a good temper tantrum is what you need. When you are sick of positive thinking. You may need to blow off steam. There are many good ways to accomplish that. Don't underestimate the power of a good temper tantrum. Stress is merely energy that needs to be channeled into constructive action.
When pressure builds, use that energy to go for a run, vacuum the house, clean floors, chop wood, punch pillows, go into the woods and scream. Don't ignore the frustration, express it in healthy ways. Move the energy out of your body-mind into physical action.
Everyone has a different threshold for stress. Learn yours and how to manage it. At times you must verbally express frustration or anger. If so, burn off angry feelings first, so they don't spill over into your conversation with another.
Don't stuff feelings or frustrations under the carpet. Blow off steam first, then get back to your focus, goals or to do lists. Find healthy ways to release the stress. Get physical. Workout, clean the house, play a moving sonata on the piano, dance to something wild, shake it out! Everyone is different. Learn how to move frustration into action.
"Complaining—bitching, moaning, kvetching, griping, and carrying on—is a terrific and constructive thing to do." You’ve just got to learn how to do it right". Sometimes we can channel frustration, in the moment, into words, actions or explanations. Sometimes it is the only option. At other times we need to blow off steam, before undertaking important actions or engaging in critical events. It is not normal to feel good all the time. Everyone needs to find strategies for handling frustration and anger. Don't let these emotions build.
Are you hectic, listless or focused?? Check in with yourself every day. If listless, you probably need a challenge, new project or hobby, unless you are exhausted from over work and need a vacation. If hectic or harried too much pressure is building which will eventually lead to burnout or blowup. Find ways to manage the extra work, get deadlines extended or secure some help. There is an ideal amount of pressure which provides energy and focus. Too little and there is no drive or motivation. Too much and tasks become difficult to accomplish.
Don't ignore negative feelings, thinking and frustration. Accept your humanness. Find a way to use these emotions or blow them off before returning to your goals and dreams. Sometimes a quick workout helps, at other times you need a longer vacation. The more you recognize your moods, the easier it is to manage them.
What do you need to stay in the zone?? Do you need a bitch and moan session? A workout at the gym? Help on your project? A way to extend deadlines? An overdue conversation? Or are you bored? Do you need more challenge? More inspiring activity? More stimulating conversation? Assess your needs.. Make choices that keep you tuned and find ways to have a constructive temper tantrum when needed. Anger is power.... focus, channel and use it.
