"Three men were building a cathedral. The first was asked what he was doing and he responded that he was laying bricks. The second was asked and he responded that he was constructing a building. The third replied that he was building a place to worship the divine."
First you gotta dream and then you gotta build.
My parents designed, built and landscaped their first home. They did it by looking at magazines, driving through communities they liked and getting books from the library. They imagined walking in the front door and how they wanted things to proceed from there. They imagined what they would be doing outside, too; how they wanted to spend time in the yard, from family gatherings, to parties with friends, cookouts, skating parties, treasure hunts, gardening, badminton, horse shoes, places for the kids to play. Then they designed,
built and landscaped. I get exhausted just thinking about it!
Take stock of your life. Make desired changes. Evaluate your life in the world at large. This may seem tough with all the confusion and uncertainty, but there is much you CAN do personally and by so doing contribute to a healthier world community.
Think in terms of your personal life, your community life and then the world at large. Break it all down.
Body, mind, spirit. Community and relationships. Life planning. Global? What cause might you be interested in supporting?
Evaluate your routines & habits. Practice makes perfect. The better you feel~ the better you feel! You are building a vital cycle even when you make small proactive changes. One good thing leads to another.
Start with exercise and healthy eating. Move!! Park the car farther away from the store. Get up and stretch in the middle of the game. Volunteer to pick up and wash the dishes. Be aware of stagnant energy. Sitting too much makes you sluggish and likely causes your breathing to be shallow. Join a gym, get a bike. Find local hiking areas. What inspires you the most. Start simple or step up your game.
Keep your energy balanced with healthy eating. Keep your motor, your engine purring. Don't over eat. Discover the foods that keep your energy in the zone and foods that depress your energy. Observe what foods and eating patterns work best for you. Research, explore, work w a nutritionist, buy a book. Try The Zone with Barry Sears. Improve upon what you are already doing. Find better choices. Step up your game. Find healthy foods that satisfy and delight.
What character are you on this stage called life? Enjoy your part. Let your grooming and personal appearance enhance the role you play, the person you love to be. Have fun. Aspire to greater things, but don't try to be something you're not. Love what you are, your humanness. Love your race, your height, your age, whatever!! Be the best of that.
How are your life skills? Finances, wills, estates, investments? What is important to you? What needs to be done? Do you need a new job? to sell your home? to downsize into something more manageable, cute and quaint? Perhaps you can work online and escape to the country.
Hire a lawyer or look online or at Office Max for standardized forms and help with wills and other legal documents. Do what you can afford. Always consider the times in which you live and your intuition when making life decisions. If you are not good at savings and investments~ learn, take a course, get a simple book, talk to friends who do well and ask what they do. Suze Orman has some great material for finances, lots of books and free advice online. The company where you work may have some free resources.
Live within your means, but live well! Find a way to do all the things you wish. You can buy flowers at the most expensive shop or pick wildflowers and put them in an old jug you got at a tag sale. Don't overlook the power of creating things in your mind. Sometimes they show up in your travels. We have a swap shop at the dump. People bring the most amazing things they no longer want. I got a brand new set of golf clubs in a bag with tees, balls and the rest. Another time I needed a rod iron side table for an outdoor seating arrangement. On my morning walk there was one for free that someone no longer wanted. Don't sacrifice, find a way
Get support where you need it, but consider the changes you want. Activate what is easy first. Redo the easy parts. When you consider the overall and make a list of needed changes, often magic happens. Things just show up! The world needs everyone to recover from stress, establish a vibrant vision and build anew. We can build a great world together.
