"Flowers are the music of the ground. From earth's lips spoken without sound." ~Edwin Curran American Poet

June is a month of weddings and so I love including wedding themes this month. Weddings represent fun, new beginnings, beauty, celebration, friends and family, spirituality and love. What more could we want? Weddings are beautiful celebrations of ourselves and our loves. They can be grand and majestic, simple and humble or somewhere in between. Whatever they are, the careful choice of what to do celebrates the uniqueness and awesomeness of our souls. Diversity in every way.

There is no right or wrong way to celebrate if you do it with heart. We've attended a wedding at a Newport Mansion where the wedding vows were exchanged in a small chapel within the mansion, a wedding atop a Cape Cod Dune with the rehearsal dinner at the Beachcomber in Wellfleet, a wedding in a quaint New England church with the reception under a backyard tent at the foot of Mount Monadnock, a wedding ceremony in a historic park overlooking the city of Providence with the reception inside an old mill featuring huge windows, restored architecture and polished wood floors. A friend eloped for her second marriage and affirmed her vows at the edge of a small Connecticut lake. Whatever your imagination can envision, there is a way.

My friend, Lynn, created the bouquets and table arrangements for my daughters' weddings. She crafted these bouquets from flowers growing in her garden. She called them "a walk through the garden bouquets" as they were designed from whatever was blooming at the time. My daughters have both said that every year when they see their flowers blooming in gardens, the sighting is a warm reminder of their cherished day.

You could bring a friend one of these bouquets for no special reason. Charm a romantic partner. Pick one for your mom. If you don't have a fancy vase, pick one up at a yard sale or swap shop. Collect them for free and store in your shed or garage. You can also save fancy food jars with unique labels to use for bouquets. My friend, Lynn, is also a potter so for the table arrangements she used gorgeous hand made vases that looked like ancient vessels you might find in an old castle. The arrangements doubled as keepsakes for the guests.

For another June wedding Lynn filled glass mason jars with bridal wreath or Spirea combined with large pink peonies, white daisies, purple pansies and other flowers in bloom. The jars were then scattered around the reception site; a big sun drenched cottage perched atop a sandy dune overlooking Cape Cod Bay.

Let these ideas inspire you. Life doesn't have to be costly to be beautiful. Gifts and celebrations created

from the heart are the best experiences of all! Go pick a bouquet and bring to a friend or place on your kitchen windowsill. Treat yourself to beauty and pleasure every day. It is everywhere, but you have to seek it.
