I remember Memorial Day as the official entrance to summer. We celebrated by honoring all the lost and fallen soldiers who had given their lives to preserve liberty and freedom for all. I remember marching in the Memorial Day parade as a girl scout, watching my daughters play flute in another Memorial Day parade and seeing many weathered Veterans honored.over the years. It was a beautiful celebration, but sad to say, I took my freedom too much for granted, even with all the impassioned speeches and remembrance.
Memorial Day Weekend used to be full of fun, festivity and hope. Hope for the country, big cookouts and get togethers with friends and family to celebrate our freedoms and the excitement of summer fun ahead. There were trips to Cape Cod to open summer homes, Lake Winnepesauke, the Berkshires, the Coast of Maine. Others opened their pools, set up the barbecue pit and readied their communities for the summer months ahead.. Everyone was getting summer ready. Picnics were simple with lots of games and people were generally happy.
These days the country is in crisis. People have become complacent about freedom, blasé about liberty, unaware what it would be like to lose the precious freedoms they now have, but are losing everyday!! Freedoms that are guaranteed in the Constitution.
"Elites" want to run the world.. They believe they are smarter and more deserving. They want to tell us what we should believe. They want total control over our lives, right down to our physical bodies. They call us useless eaters. They want to chip our bodes, track our every movement and control what we think and what we do. As we enjoy our Memorial Day celebrations, these "elites" are in Davos discussing ways to enact these draconian measures!
Fake News is designed to control us, not inform or educate us. It pretends to be our friend, but smiling faces deceive. The hope is that many people are taking back their power, waking up to the dangers our country and world face, finding ways to fight back and be heard against tyranny big and small.
This Memorial Day don't take your freedom for granted; freedom over your physical body, your movements, your thoughts and beliefs. Take a moment to be thankful for all the lost and fallen soldiers who have died to preserve your liberty and way of life. Let every new Memorial Day be a day to honor the loved ones who have enriched your journey. Toast the memories and celebrate heartfelt wishes for wonderful days ahead.
