Patriots Day

April 19, 2022

"Listen my children and you shall hear of the midnight ride of Paul Revere.

Twas the 18th of April in '75 hardly a man is now alive who remembers that famous day and year."

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

The magic of that ride will never die.

But our country lies at a critical juncture. Too many of us have taken the freedoms and opportunities into which we were born for granted. We don't want to talk politics. Just let the powerful take over and then we can complain about it.

And yet, through the gloom and the light, The fate of a nation was riding that night; And the spark struck out by that steed, in his flight, Kindled the land into flame with its heat.

I find it strange that people had more accurate information and thoughtful concern about their political condition when communication was by horse and rider!!! Today facts are fudged by once respectable news outlets and anchors. Liars and manipulators are everywhere. Your current worldview is probably at least 1/2 based on "fake news." Now social media giants are actively working to control your perceptions, as well.

The powerful continue to tax us. King George must have moved to America when we weren't looking. If only correcting our course and preserving our freedom were as simple as getting together to throw some tea overboard.

America was born on beautiful principles, even if many mistakes were made along the way. We will never create a beautiful country by ideas alone. Movements of change and growth must come from the heart. They can be intense and passionate. Outspoken and bold. But without heart you will create a dull, hollow, soulless country where you wouldn't want to live.

I grew up in the area where the American Revolution began. I have walked the freedom trail. I have traveled the old footpath from one of those Middlesex Towns all the way to Concord Bridge with thousands of other citizens at America's Bicentennial. I grew up around the statues, the cobblestone streets, the villages and all the historical remnants of the birth of our country.

We will never evolve in love by tearing down history. We must learn from it. We must preserve the basic principles and grow in wisdom, understanding and justice.

I love this country and Paul Revere is an inspiration to me. You don't have to be a white male to be inspired by the story. You can be any sex, color, race or creed. You simply need to be inspired by the principles of freedom and liberty for all.

Find the truth and freedom that lives in your HEART!!!!!! Not an angry creed. You may BE angry about things in this country, but if you fight for justice, fight from the heart. A world without love is not a world where you want to live. Our country will become a totalitarian nightmare if enough citizens don't wake up and see how the powerful are trying to indoctrinate and legislate us into being obedient slaves!!!!

Read the story of Paul Revere. Imagine what was at stake at that time. How simple farmers, printers, blacksmiths, seamstresses and other ordinary citizens acted, impassioned by their right to be free people. Hopefully, we have not lost the passion and understanding of what it means to be a free people. Hopefully we will not give those rights away without realizing what we are doing. America is at a critical point. In the hearts of people lives the flame of liberty which understands that to preserve freedom, you need laws and order to protect it.

Read the poem. Feel the magic. Find a way to honor your country and have gratitude for the precious values it embodies that keep you free. Be a Patriot. Appreciate what it means to be free, because our freedoms are under attack and in grave danger once again.

Learn how indoctrination works. Understand how totalitarian regimes are forged. Our country's values are already being abused and it will get worse without an awakening citizenry. Feel the heartfelt passion of the lines below. Wake up to the danger we face and to the hope rising in the hearts of ordinary citizens everywhere.

So through the night rode Paul Revere; And so through the night went his cry of alarm To every Middlesex village and farm, — A cry of defiance and not of fear, A voice in the darkness, a knock at the door, And a word that shall echo forevermore!

For, borne on the night-wind of the Past, Through all our history, to the last, In the hour of darkness and peril and need, The people will waken and listen to hear The hurrying hoof-beats of that steed, And the midnight message of Paul Revere
